From the Movies
A back-up vocalist and dancer at Jabba's palace, Rystáll Sant performed with the Max Rebo Band for the amusement of Jabba the Hutt. The humanoid alien's graceful form and beautiful features even managed to attract the attention of one as aloof as Boba Fett. From the Expanded Universe
Most visitors to Coruscant never see the undercity, a shadowy sector of the megalopolis eclipsed by the far-reaching skyscrapers. In these darkened regions, even the long arm of Imperial law seldom reaches. It was here that the young girl named Rystáll was raised. An abandoned half-breed, the result of a human father and unknown alien mother, Rystáll was cared for by adoptive Ortolan parents who eked out a living as musicians. Ryst?ll joined their performances as a dancer. As a beautiful young woman, Rystáll drew the appreciative eye of a Vigo, a high-ranking lieutenant of the Black Sun criminal organization. Infatuated with Rystáll, the slimy criminal promised her unprecedented freedom and travel among the stars. Instead, he enslaved her and her parents.
Treated as chattel, Rystáll and her parents were put up for wager in a heated sabacc game. The Vigo lost to a dashing gambler named Lando Calrissian. Calrissian, who found slavery despicable, freed Rystáll and the Ortolans.
They arrived on Tatooine, and the Ortolans made contact with an old friend -- Max Rebo. They arranged for Rystáll to join the Max Rebo Band as a backup singer and dancer.
Behind the Scenes
Rystáll was added into the Special Edition release of Return of the Jedi. She was played by dancer Mercedes Ngoh. Similar female aliens can be seen accompanying Jabba the Hutt during the Podrace sequence of Episode I.Keywords: Databank - Episode III, Databank - Episode VI
