From the Movies
Moff Jerjerrod was the Imperial officer supervising the construction of the second Death Star high over the forest moon of Endor. Jerjerrod was in the unenviable position of reporting the Death Star's progress to taskmaster superiors. When the construction fell behind schedule, Emperor Palpatine dispatched Darth Vader as his emissary to snap Jerjerrod's crews into shape.
During the Battle of Endor, Jerjerrod commanded the Death Star's operational superlaser against the Rebel forces. The station was able to destroy several key Alliance cruisers in the conflict.
Jerjerrod perished aboard the Death Star when the Rebels were able to detonate the station's reactor.
From the Expanded Universe
Prior to his service aboard the second Death Star, Jerjerrod was the governor of the Quanta sector. He suffered the indignity of having his estate on Tinnel IV burgled by the infamous jewel thief known only as the Tombat.
Since the second Death Star was a closely guarded secret, official records indicate that Jerjerrod was promoted to director of Imperial Energy Systems, a new sub-department of the Ministry of Energy formed to develop a line of large-scale portable power plants for use in disaster relief efforts.
Behind the Scenes
The use of
Return of the Jedi archival footage in the Special Edition of
The Empire Strikes Back means that Jerjerrod has a cameo in Episode V. When Vader's shuttle arrives aboard the
Executor, it's Jerjerrod waiting to greet him, just as he does when Vader arrives aboard the second Death Star. For 1997's Super Star Destroyer hangar bay, the establishing shot was a digital matte painting. For 1983's Death Star hangar bay, ILM crafted a realistic traditional painting on glass.
