Logray![]()
![]() From the MoviesLogray was the Ewok medicine man of Chief Chirpa's tribe. A great warrior in his youth, Logray served the Ewok village with his medicines and potions in his later years. Legends say that Logray is as old as the trees themselves. He is a tan-striped Ewok, who wears the half skull of a great forest bird atop his head, decorated with feathers and beads. He wields a staff made from the spine of a great enemy of his youth. From the Expanded UniverseLogray's first apprentice was an Ewok named Zarrak. Zarrak turned to the dark arts of magic, and was banished from the village. Later on, Logray took Wicket W. Warrick on as a pupil, but Wicket couldn't cut it as a wizard. Logray's true star pupil was Teebo.
Although Logray had a hut in Bright Tree Village, he also lived in a small hovel removed from the other Ewoks. In times of great need, the Ewoks would call upon Logray. He was a powerful magician, able to summon the powers of Brother Sky, Father Tree, the Spell of Seven Oaths, and the magic of the Sunstar.
Some of Logray's rituals involved animal sacrifice, and Wicket and the other young Ewoks often spoke out against these acts. As Logray grew older, he became increasingly strict and bullied those that opposed him. For his protests, Logray banished Wicket from all Ewok rituals. It was during the Battle of Endor that Logray was seen for the bully that he was. Chirpa removed Logray as medicine man, appointing Paploo to the role. Enfuriated, Logray placed a curse on the village that Paploo convinced the Golden One, C-3PO, to remove. Now, Logray's name has been stricken from all the village's songs of remembrance. To the Ewok villagers, he never existed. Behind the ScenesIn the film Return of the Jedi, Logray was played by actor Mike Edmonds. Edmonds also performed the movements of Jabba the Hutt's tail. In the television movie "Caravan of Courage: The Ewok Adventure" a gray-furred Logray was played by Bobby Bell. Keywords: Databank - Expanded Universe, Databank - Episode VI Filed under: Vault, Character
