Of all of the Rattataki combatants, Jasper McKnives proved dangerous not for his physical prowess, but for his mental instabilities. He had no patron, and is the only gladiator who entered himself into the contests. He fought not for credits or for freedom. He fought instead out of his fanatical devotion to the Cult of M'dweshuu, a deadly blood cult that had long terrorized the people of Kintan. It is not known how Jasper came to Rattatak, but a string of brutal cult slayings brought him to the attention of the war barons and organizers of the gladiatorial games. As Rattatak had no penal system, Jasper was simply thrown into the pit as punishment for his murders. It was exactly what he wanted.
