Thire, Commander![]()
![]() From the MoviesA red-emblazoned shock trooper, Commander Thire was tasked by Emperor Palpatine to scour the lower levels of the Galactic Senate to find any traces of Jedi Master Yoda. One of the most elite rankings of the clone troopers developed for the Clone Wars, the shock troopers served as Palpatine's personal guards on Coruscant and during off-world trips. Commander Thire was also known by the designation 4477.From the Expanded UniverseThough most clone troopers spent their accelerated formative years on storm-drenched Kamino developing under the careful watch of politically ambivalent scientists, there are two units that were notable exceptions. The red-marked shock troopers and the blue-marked 501st legion were raised and trained on Coruscant shortly following the Battle of Jabiim and increased threats to the galactic capital. The well guarded and secretive facilities served as their training ground. The Galactic Republic must have used considerable leverage to prompt the usually reclusive Kaminoans to leave their homeworld and bring their jealously guarded cloning techniques to another planet, though any documentation about such arrangements remains understandably classified. The shock troopers emerged as an instrument of Homeworld Security Command. Late in the Clone Wars, they patrolled the vast cityscapes, and Coruscant's citizens knew to produce their identification at the behest of any red-marked clone trooper. During the attack on Coruscant by the Separatists, the shock troopers emerged as one of the last lines of defense against the invading droid forces. These highly skilled troops, under the command of ARC-trained Commander Thire, were able to prevent many of the droids from demolishing some of Coruscant's most ancient and revered edifices, but they were unable to prevent General Grievous from kidnapping the Chancellor. When the Empire arose, the shock troopers were stationed throughout the Senate building and executive towers to secure a peaceful transition of government. The blue-helmeted 501st were assigned to Lord Darth Vader, the Emperor's newly named emissary, and stormed the Jedi Temple where a rebellion was underway. The shock troopers eventually became the basis of the Coruscant Guard, elite stormtroopers tasked with providing security on the Imperial capital. Behind the ScenesContinuing the color palette established in Episode I, the clone troopers that personally escort Palpatine are marked with the Emperor's favorite hue: red. Keywords: Databank - Episode III, Databank - The Clone Wars Filed under: Vault, Character
