Aak, Ask![]()
![]() From the MoviesA three-eyed Gran from Malastare, Senator Ask Aak was a member of the Loyalist Committee determined to keep the Republic from fragmenting under the strain of Separatist forces.Aak was a strong proponent of a Republic military force. He was for the Military Creation Act, and believed the only way to end the civil strife wracking the Republic was to create an Army of the Republic. When one became available, mysteriously commissioned by the Jedi Council a decade ago, Aak strongly advocated its use. From the Expanded UniverseThe political career of Aak's predecessor, Aks Moe, left much of the Gran Protectorate mired in scandal and with no shortage of enemies. Malastare was plagued with social strife stemming from the second-class treatment of its native Dug citizenry. Dug activists even disrupted what was to be a placid, respectful funeral for the fallen Moe.Following Moe's death, Senator Ask Aak was sworn into office in his place. With the indelible example of danger set by Moe's murder, Aak became an even more vocal champion of the Military Creation Act than Moe was. As one of the more hawkish members of the Senate, Aak had strong opinions about how the Clone Wars should be waged, and voiced them on numerous occassions. He was harshly critical of the Jedi Knights and their role in the war during the early months of the conflict. Behind the ScenesAsk Aak is a more rotund Gran than his precessor, Aks Moe, seen in Episode I. Unlike the eloquent and clear-voiced Moe, Ask Aak speaks in a very muddy alien language that requires the use of subtitles on screen. In Episode II, Aak was played by Steven Boyle. In Episode III, Paul Spence played the role. Keywords: Databank - Episode II, Databank - Episode III Filed under: Vault, Character
