From the Movies
Starting off the Boonta Eve Classic from the far-side pole position was Aldar Beedo, an alien athlete with a rod-thin build, suction cup-tipped digits, and a long proboscis. Though he commanded a strong starting position, Beedo fell behind in the early moments of that eventful competition. From the Expanded Universe
The daring Podracer pilot can amass an impressive amount of credits throughout his career, but there are those like second-rate racer Aldar Beedo that don't want to rely only on winnings to make ends meet. In fact, Beedo never really considered himself a racer to begin with. He was first and foremost a hired killer. The long-snooted Glymphid from Ploo II had less interest in winning the Boonta Eve Classic than he did in collecting a sizable bounty on Sebulba's head. The dashing Wan Sandage hired Beedo to kill the Dug, but Beedo failed. Ironically enough, Beedo was one of the few to finish the challenge of the Boonta. He came in third, clocking a time of 15:52:108, ten seconds behind Anakin Skywalker. His client, Sandage, never crossed that finish line.
Despite his failure, Sandage hired Beedo again, during the Vinta Harvest Classic on Malastare. Once again, Beedo failed to kill Sebulba.
Behind the Scenes
After the look of Aldar Beedo was established in concept sketches, a maquette was sculpted to properly depict the character in three-dimensions and develop his paint-scheme. Despite such exacting detail, Aldar Beedo was eventually realized as a low-resolution computer generated model nearly impossible to see in the cockpit of his speeding Podracer. Aldar Beedo should not be confused with the Rodian named Beedo, who frequented Jabba the Hutt's palace. Keywords: Databank - Episode I
