Screed, Admiral![]()
![]() From the Expanded UniverseAs he watched the Republic rot from within, Terrinald Screed could identify with the architect that would emerge as the galaxy's savior. He was an early supporter of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. A graduate of the Carida military academy and a member of the Republic Judicial Department, Screed's hawkish outlook supported the creation of an army to deal with the growing Separatist threat. When the Clone Wars erupted, Screed callously saw it as a necessary "house-cleaning" to rid the Republic of its fatal flaws. When Palpatine supplanted the Republic with the Galactic Empire, Screed was one of the first highly placed officers in the new Imperial Navy. He operated in the fringes of the Empire, seeking new opportunities for the emergent government. Screed oversaw the placement of the Great Heep on Biitu, and voyaged to the distant Roon system. Governor Koong of Roon was eager for an alliance with the Empire, and invited Screed to his profitable salvage operation within the Cloak of the Sith dust cloud. Koong had taken over one of the lightstation beacons within the hazardous nebula, and was purposely crashing ships and scavenging their wrecks, amassing a sizable fortune. Though Screed was not initially impressed with such brutish methods, he kept an open mind. He knew the Roon system could potentially hold much wealth as the source of the Roonstones, and was waiting for Koong's efforts to produce leads as to the treasure's location. He humored Koong in such plots as sabotaging the Roon Colonial games, and poisoning a rebellious province with a biological agent, but his patience began to strain. Ultimately, when the efforts of trader Mungo Baobab revealed the source of the Roonstones, Screed double-crossed Koong. He placed all of Roon under Imperial control, and attempted to secure the Roonstone treasure for the Empire. Koong was outraged. He took control of a drilling laser and blasted the treasure into a lava flow, sealing it off from capture. The enraged Screed had to admit defeat, and moved on. Though his position faltered in the coming years, Screed nonetheless remained a presence in the Imperial Navy. After the defeat of the Empire at the Battle of Endor, he emerged as one of many squabbling warlords attempting to rebuild the New Order in the power vacuum left by Palpatine's death. Screed was ultimately killed by Warlord Zsinj during his rise to power. In the early days of the Empire, Screed was a tall man with harsh, angular features and an electronic eyepatch.
