September 7, 1999
Until September 23, 1999, the chic Galeries Lafayette in Paris are showing costumes and props from Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, as part of the great Generation 2000 Expo that the Galeries Lafayette are organizing for the young population of France.

The artifacts include a selection of costumes from Queen Amidala's wardrobe and that of her handmaidens, a lifelike statuette of Anakin Skywalker made by Don Post Studios, and the lightsabers of Darth Maul and Obi-Wan Kenobi. A large Naboo Starfighter also hangs majestically from the great multi-colored Byzantine Atrium of the Galeries Lafayette, completing the display with an impressive view for the unsuspecting shoppers.

Episode I opens in France on October 13, 1999.
