Star Wars prequels producer
Rick McCallum headlines an impressive roster of saga guests at
Star Wars Réunion II, a 30th anniversary convention hosted by
Lucasfilm Magazine, the publication of the Official French
Star Wars Fan Club. As the name implies, this is the second Official French convention. Mark your calendars for October 27 and 28 (the first weekend of the autumn school holiday tied to All Saints Day).
Star Wars Réunion II will be held at the iconic cinema, Le Grand Rex in Paris.
Guests at Réunion II
Rick McCallum will share his insights and experiences on the Star Wars saga and other Lucasfilm endeavors. Always a fan-favorite, McCallum has worked alongside George Lucas since 1990, on the television series that became The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, Radioland Murders and the Star Wars Special Edition Trilogy. He served as producer for all three Star Wars prequels and is currently in early pre-production on the live-action Star Wars television series, as well as the non-Star Wars feature film Red Tails which Lucas will Executive Produce.
McCallum began his career as a producer on the screen adaptation of Pennies From Heaven, starring Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters. He then went on to produce DreamChild, Track 29 and Blackeyes. DreamChild won three BAFTA awards. McCallum was the executive producer of the acclaimed six-part BBC series The Singing Detective. He also produced the Rolling Stones' music video Undercover, which won the MTV Award for Best Video of the Decade.
Robert Watts was involved in production roles on Star Wars Episodes IV, V, and VI, as well as on the first three Indiana Jones movies. Having taken an active part in the genesis of two of the most successful film sagas of all time, Watts will have plenty of stories and anecdotes to share with the audience.
Lorne Peterson served as chief model maker at ILM on all six episodes of the Star Wars saga. Peterson has worked on more than 120 feature films, many of which are the biggest blockbusters in Hollywood history. Peterson earned an Academy Award for his work on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Peterson can recount first-hand experience in the creation of the original Star Wars, as well as his incredible book, Sculpting a Galaxy: Inside the Star Wars Model Shop.
Steve Sansweet, whom Lucasfilm Magazine readers have become familiar with, is not only the world's greatest Star Wars memorabilia collector, but also a prolific author. He will be attending to sign his latest book, to be published in France by Nathan, Star Wars le Livre-Culte (to be published in the U.S. as The Star Wars Vault). Sansweet, Lucasfilm's Director of Content Management and Head of Fan Relations, will also discuss the company's future projects, including the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Dan Madsen served as President of the U.S. Star Wars Fan Club from 1987 to 2000, and has a cameo appearance as a kaadu wrangler in the final scene of Episode I. He will talk about his adventures as a fan working closely with Lucasfilm production during those important years.
Orli Shoshan played the strikingly exotic Jedi Master Shaak Ti in Episodes II and III.
Doug Wheatley is a long-time fan of the original trilogy, and was not only fortunate to artistically adapt Episode III into a graphic novel format, but he also lent his talent to many titles published by Delcourt in France (and Dark Horse in the U.S.), such as Star Wars Clone Wars Volume 10, X-Wing: Rogue Squadron part 2 and Dark Times. Wheatley will be attending Star Wars Réunion II to meet his fans and to sign his books.
The French Dubbing Team
