Steve Sansweet, Head of Fan Relations: Well, we assumed so. But frankly, we can't find it. And we've asked some of the crew on Jedi, who should know. It might be written small on some model, but as far as an obvious reference, we're stumped. That goes for Episode II too... unless someone is holding back on us for the ultimate Easter egg!

UPDATE: Since this answer was published in 2002, a hitherto unknown THX 1138 reference was discovered by a licensee producing a Boushh collectible. By closely examining reference photography of the physical helmet, a faint 1138 can be seen painted on the side of the bounty hunter headgear. Amazingly, there are still secrets being uncovered from these films after so many years.
Likewise, the Episode II inclusion of this Easter Egg is now known -- the tiny red LED display in the back of each clone trooper's helmet reads "THX 1138."
