There's no way around it -- Star Wars is everywhere. During a year that a movie is released, newspaper stands often showcase dozens of magazines sporting Star Wars covers, since publishers know that a portrait of Darth Vader, R2-D2, Yoda, or other Star Wars denizen can dramatically increase sales.
In recent years, we've come to expect a certain formality from a Star Wars magazine cover -- imagery that's nicely-composed, sharp, compelling, and generally serious (think TIME or Vanity Fair). This actually hasn't always been the case, however -- in the '70s and '80s, especially, the public face of Star Wars was a bit more lax, and magazine publishers could afford to be a little, uh, looser with their Star Wars cover designs.
So we present a handful of "different" Star Wars magazine covers this week, ranging from well-intentioned homage to downright racy.
