A decade before the Clone Wars, Aurra Sing found herself on Tatooine, where she witnessed the podrace known as the Boonta Eve Classic – won, to her surprise, by a young human slave named Anakin Skywalker.
-
During the Clone Wars, Sing taught young Boba Fett the bounty-hunting trade, and helped the boy seek vengeance for the death of his father, Jango, at Mace Windu’s hands. After Boba sabotaged the Republic cruiser Endurance, Aurra rescued him from an escape pod but left its other occupants adrift in space – giving Boba the kind of ruthless lesson he had to learn.
-
Working with the hunters Bossk and Castas, Aurra and Boba descended to Vanqor’s surface in Slave I, Jango’s old starship. They took hostages from the wreck of the Endurance and left a booby-trapped Mandalorian helmet on the cruiser’s bridge.
-
When the helmet exploded, Aurra, Boba and Castas rushed to the wreck to see if Windu had been killed. But they were forced back by R2-D2, who then boarded a Jedi starfighter and raced for space.
-
Aurra and the hunters pursued the starfighter – which they assumed was piloted by Windu -- in Slave I. Their prey escaped, but Aurra told Boba not to worry. She had other ways to force a confrontation with Windu.
-
Aurra executed one of the hostages and sent the hologram to the Jedi Council, warning the others would die if Windu refused to confront Boba. With Windu injured, the Jedi responded by sending Plo Koon and Ahsoka Tano to track Aurra down.
-
Aurra and her team of hunters sought refuge with her former lover Hondo Ohnaka. The pirate welcomed Boba to Florrum, praising Jango as an honorable man, but warned Aurra that he wouldn’t get involved in her quarrel.
-
Tired of Aurra’s bullying ways, Castas decided to leave her team, contacting a former associate of his on Coruscant. Aurra used her biocomputer to eavesdrop on the conversation and coolly shot Castas dead before he could betray her.
-
When the Jedi arrived on Florrum, Aurra was disappointed to find that Windu wasn’t with them. Aurra contacted Bossk and told him to execute the hostages if she gave the word.
-
A firefight broke out, and Aurra callously abandoned Boba and then Bossk, fleeing on a speeder bike and taking off in Slave I. After Ahsoka sliced off one of the craft’s stabilizers with her lightsaber, Slave I crashed – apparently killing the ship’s pilot.
-
But Ahsoka soon began having nightmarish visions of Sing preparing to assassinate someone close to her – and after meditating, the Padawan decided that Padmé Amidala was the target. Could Sing have survived?
-
At a conference on Alderaan, Ahsoka discovered her visions were true: Aurra was indeed trying to kill Padmé. Ahsoka thwarted the assassination attempt, but Sing slipped away – and despite being wounded in the shoulder, Padmé insisted on delivering her planned speech.
-
The Senators disguised a luxury droid as Padmé, with the Senator delivering her speech remotely via comlink. Aurra figured out the plan, however, and attacked Padmé in her quarters. The assassin disarmed Ahsoka, but she had underestimated Padmé, who drew a pistol and stunned her.
-
Aurra was led off to a Republic prison, but she would soon be freed, and sign on with Cad Bane for a daring raid on Coruscant’s Senate Building.
-
Aurra covered Bane’s entrance to the Senate Building by shooting the commandos guarding it. She then joined the other hunters, helping them search for Anakin Skywalker.
-
Bane forced Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to free Ziro the Hutt, who had hired Aurra to assassinate Padmé. When the Hutt arrived from the Republic prison where he’d been held, Aurra and the other hunters sped away from the Senate Building. Aurra’s infamous career would continue.
